Kota Kai in Porthleven | Restaurants in Cornwall

Kota Kai, the sister restaurant to Kota, offers a laid-back dining atmosphere coupled with dishes infused with flavours reflecting owner, Jude's heritage (Jude being of Maori and Chinese Malay descent), incorporating Asian influences into their menu. Recently, the restaurant went through an impressive refurb, and Scott and I were invited to check it out.

The menu includes an array of small plates and larger plates, as well as a separate Sunday lunch menu and a great cocktail menu by our friend Chris Jarrett, aka The Bearded Barman. We indulged in the salt and pepper squid and scallops, followed by the grilled hake fillet with Indonesian fish curry sauce and mussels - it was absolutely beautiful!

Following our meal, we settled into our room for the night. The Kota bedrooms are located above Kota (in the heart of Porthleven) and offer an ideal choice for those looking to explore the town or indulge in more than a few glasses of wine/cocktails! During our trip the rain poured down, so we decided to ditch our initial plan for a walk and instead spent some time playing pool and sipping on drinks in a local pub.

The Kota rooms are SO cosy - considering the wild winds outside (you know how Porthleven can get like!) it was a relief to get snug and listen to the weather from the warmth of our bed. The following morning, we were treated to a lovely breakfast at Kota Kai. I have to say, this was one of the nicest breakfasts that I’ve had in a while - I will let the photos do the talking.

We had a very lovely day/morning and a full stomach of good food! There is always something going on in Porthleven and Kota and Kota Kai are both lovely restaurants, which we go back to time and time again.

*Please note that this is a collaborative ad, however, all opinions are my own - we had a lovely time!
