Restaurant Review: Tartan Fox, by Adam Handling
A few days ago, ServedUpCornwall and I had the pleasure of visiting Tartan Fox in Summercourt Cornwall, to chat with sustainability champion and newly titled MBE, Adam Handling.
“If I could use another word for sustainability, it would be, tomorrow.” - Adam Handling
The Tartan Fox opened at the beginning of summer, and the transformation inside the 400-year-old Grade II building is nothing short of impressive. The menu breathes new life into classic pub dishes, elevating them with luxurious ingredients and a hint of Adam's Scottish heritage. If you've dined at any of Adam's pubs or restaurants, you’ll be familiar with his ethos: bold flavours paired with simplicity, all grounded in a commitment to locally grown and sustainable produce.
Everything we tried was exceptional, but my must-try recommendations are the Caviar Hashbrowns, Lobster Tart, Crab Cocktail, Shellfish Macaroni, and BBQ Mackerel (special), all perfectly paired with the Adam Handling Brut.
Our conversation with Adam for ServedUp was nothing short of inspiring. Hospitality is not only about creating exceptional food and service but also about fostering a team that loves what they do and providing opportunities that extend beyond just a single summer season. The Adam Handling Group delivers this brilliantly, offering something that we don't often see in Cornwall.
Thank you Adam, George and the wonderful Tartan Fox team for an amazing afternoon, our experience exceeded expectations and we are already looking forward to returning.
*This was a complimentary lunch, however all views are my own - we had an amazing time!
